Chiragearab Hotel

The Chiragearab Hotel is located on Belasis Road, right across from the old Alexandria Cinema in Mumbai Central. It’s an area that has been around forever. Our address is 248 Belasis Road, in the Gaddahalli Layout. It’s a busy spot near the main station, so we get a lot of travelers passing through. The hotel isn't one of those five-star places with gold doors. It’s more of a practical place for people who need a bed for a night or two. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows its age in some spots. I spend a lot of my day at the front desk, checking people in and out. The traffic outside on Belasis Road never really stops, so there's always a background noise of buses and taxis. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble and we have to call the local guy to fix it. We don't have a big staff, just a few people to clean the rooms and watch the gate. People come here because it’s convenient and they know what to expect. We don't try to be something we aren't. It’s just a hotel in a very old part of the city. We see a lot of different people, some coming for work and others just passing through to somewhere else. It makes for interesting days, even if the work itself is pretty routine. I’ve seen many faces come and go over the years.
