You can find us at the Municipal Stall near Dsilva Co in Dadar West. We are right opposite Vikram Jewellers. Dadar is always packed with people. Especially during the festivals, it gets very crazy. We have a small stall but we keep a lot of stuff. Mostly it’s things for the house or maybe some art pieces. We sit on small stools and talk to the people passing by. The sun hits the stall in the afternoon, so we have to use a cloth for shade. Being near the jeweler is good because people are already in a mood to buy things. We’ve seen the market change a lot. Some old shops closed and new ones opened. We are still here. Sometimes the rain comes into the stall if the wind is strong. We have to cover everything quickly with plastic sheets. It’s a simple life. We don’t use computers much. Everything is done by hand or just noted down in a book. My father used to work here too. Now I do it. We know the other stall owners well. We share tea and talk about the news. It’s not a big business with a lot of staff. Just us. We like the noise of Dadar. If it was too quiet, we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves. We just keep the stall open and wait for the next customer. It is a lot of standing, but we are used to it by now.
