Central Transport Service

Our office is on the second floor of Chhotalal Bhavan. The address is 424/428 in the Kalbadevi area. It’s specifically on 2nd Main, near the 2nd Cross. Kalbadevi is a crazy place if you aren't used to it. There are people and goods moving in every direction at all hours of the day. Our building is right in the thick of it. We spend most of our time on the phone or talking to drivers. There’s always someone coming in to drop off paperwork or check on a shipment. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep and narrow. Inside, we have a few desks and a lot of filing cabinets. It’s not a very pretty office, but it’s where we do all our thinking and planning. We have maps on the walls and pieces of paper stuck everywhere with notes on them. The fans are always running to keep the air moving. Dealing with transport means things are always changing, so we have to be ready for anything. Some days are long and we don't leave until late in the evening. We usually grab some food from the vendors downstairs when we are too busy to go out. It’s a tough business sometimes, but we’ve been doing it long enough that it feels natural. We just focus on keeping the trucks moving and the paperwork straight. It is noisy but that is just the way the city works.
