Cannon Engineering Industries

Cannon Engineering Industries is located at units 105 and 106 in the Retiwala Industrial Estate. You have to come down H.A. Palav Marg in Byculla East to find us. It’s an old industrial area, and our units are pretty much what you’d expect from a place that’s been around for decades. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the lighting isn't the best, but it works for what we do. We have some heavy machinery that takes up most of the floor space, leaving just narrow paths to walk through. We do various types of engineering work, mostly involving metal fabrication and repairs. The floor is made of old concrete that's cracked in a few places. We try to keep the workbench clear, but it always ends up covered in bolts, wrenches, and half-eaten packets of biscuits. We don't have a big sign with lights. There is just a small board near the entrance that most people miss if they aren't looking for it. We do a lot of welding, so there's always that bright flash and the smell of ozone. We don't have fancy computer-controlled machines. Most of what we do is by hand and by eye, the way we were taught years ago. It takes longer, but we feel like we have more control over the quality that way. Sometimes a job comes in that's a real puzzle, and we spend hours just scratching our heads and trying to figure out a solution.
