Bombay Veterinary College

Our place is up in Andheri East, Mumbai. Bombay Veterinary College has a long history, and you can feel it when you walk through the gates. It’s not like the shiny office buildings you see in other parts of Andheri. There is a lot of space here, which is rare for Mumbai, because we deal with animals. You might hear a dog barking or see some cattle being tended to on any given day. The air smells a bit like hay and medicine, which is something you get used to pretty fast. We don’t have a lot of fancy marketing because people who need us usually find us. The students are always busy, running from one ward to another with their stethoscopes. It’s a lot of practical work, not just sitting in a room. The buildings are old and have high ceilings, and sometimes the fans squeak a bit. It is a working college, so things can get a bit dirty and chaotic, especially when there are a lot of cases coming in. We don't have a corporate vibe at all. It’s just people who like animals trying to teach the next generation of vets. We’ve been at this spot in Andheri for a long time. It feels like a small world of its own inside the busy city. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It is an honest place where we just handle the animals and the lessons day by day.
