Bombay Hospital

We are located at 12 New Marine Lines. If you know Mumbai at all, you know that Marine Lines is right by the water and the railway station. Bombay Hospital has been in this spot for a very long time. It is one of those landmark buildings in South Mumbai that people use when they are giving directions to someone else. The street outside is almost always packed with people. You have the local trains running nearby, office workers rushing to catch their ride, and the smell of the sea when the wind blows the right way. Working here is quite intense because of the sheer volume of people who walk through the doors. It is a huge hospital with a lot of history in its walls. The hallways are very long and the ceilings are high. It feels different from the newer hospitals you see in the suburbs. It has that old Mumbai charm, even if it gets a bit crowded during visiting hours. We see patients from every walk of life here. Some come from the fancy neighborhoods nearby and some travel for hours on the train just to get here. It is a constant flow of energy. Finding a place to park around here is a total nightmare, so most of the staff just use the train. The building is big and grey and very solid. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs. It is about being there for the city.
