Bombay Andhra Cargo Carriers

Our office is on the second floor of the Grohitom Building, right in the thick of things at Masjid Bunder. If you know the Indian Airlines Quarters on Carnac Road, you know it is always busy with people and trucks. We spend most of our days dealing with cargo going back and forth, especially on the routes down to Andhra. It is a lot of paperwork and phone calls to drivers to see where they are on the highway. The office isn't much to look at, just desks piled with ledgers and waybills, but it works for what we do. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud we have to shout over the phone. Moving goods is a messy business, and things don't always go exactly as planned with the weather or the roads, but we try to keep the trucks moving. We handle a bit of everything, from small boxes to big loads that take up the whole trailer. Being near the station means there is always noise and something happening. Most of the guys who work here have been doing this for a long time, so they know the routes by heart. We usually have a pot of tea going and some driver or other sitting in the corner waiting for his papers. It is a simple operation, really, just making sure stuff gets from one place to another without too much trouble for anyone involved.
