Big Sandwich Company

The Big Sandwich Company is tucked away in Andheri East, specifically over at J B Nagar 2/506. Being in this part of Mumbai means there is never a quiet moment. We start our mornings by getting all the vegetables delivered and then it’s just a lot of chopping and prepping for the hours ahead. The space we have in J B Nagar isn't huge, but we make it work with what we’ve got. You can hear the planes overhead and the constant honking from the main road while we’re putting things together. We use a lot of bread every day and the delivery guy usually drops it off right as we are opening up. Most of the people who come by are working in the nearby offices and they are usually in a big hurry to get back to their desks. We don't have much time for small talk when it's busy, but we recognize most of the regulars by their orders now. Inside 2/506, it can get a bit cramped when everyone shows up at once, but we just keep moving. The afternoon heat can be a bit much sometimes, so we keep the fans going at full speed. By the time evening rolls around, we’re usually pretty tired and looking forward to closing up the shop. It’s just a regular job in a busy city, trying to get through the day one sandwich at a time. It is a long commute home, so we try to finish quickly.
