Bhairu Bhawani

This is Shop No 3 in the Suryadarshan building. It’s in Kandivali West, which is a part of town that never really sleeps. We’re right across from Tanthil Height, so that’s usually how people find us if they’re lost. Bhairu Bhawani is just a local shop where we keep things moving every day. The space is small, so we have to be organized or we’d never find anything. I’ve been running things here for a while now. The neighbors in the other shops are friendly enough, and we often chat over the counter when things are slow. Kandivali has a lot of energy, and being in a co-op society means there’s always someone walking by. We get a mix of regulars who have been coming for years and new people who just moved into the high-rises nearby. I try to keep the shop stocked with what people actually need. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights and music. It’s just a regular shop with wooden shelves and a counter that’s seen better days. I spend a lot of time just sitting there, waiting for the next person or checking the bills. Dealing with suppliers is the hardest part, they always come at the wrong time. But that’s just how it goes when you run a small business in this city. You just take the good days with the bad ones.
