Bhagwanji Sanjay Kumar

Our shop, Bhagwanji Sanjay Kumar, is situated right near the bus stop in Kalbadevi. It’s a very convenient spot for people who are commuting, though it does get incredibly noisy with the buses pulling in and out all day long. You can hear the conductors shouting the routes and the constant honking of horns. We’ve been in this location for quite a while now. The inside of the shop is pretty basic. We have some shelves, a few stools for people to sit on, and a big desk where we handle all the accounts. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find polished floors or bright neon lights. It’s more of a functional space. We know the guys at the tea stall next door and most of the other shopkeepers on this block. We usually open up around ten in the morning and stay until late in the evening. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the news or the local cricket scores. Other days, we don’t even have time to eat our lunch because it’s so busy. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people knowing where we are and what we do. It’s a very traditional way of working. We try to be helpful to everyone who walks through the door, whether they’ve been coming here for twenty years or they’re just stopping by because they saw the sign. It’s a good life.
