Our business, Belgique, is located at unit 205 in the Creative Industrial Estate. This is part of the Sitaram Compound Mill area in Lower Parel. Lower Parel has changed a lot over the years, with many old mills turning into offices and malls, but our estate still has that old industrial feel to it. To get to us, you have to go up to the second floor of the building. The hallways are often filled with goods from the other businesses in the compound. Inside our space, we try to keep things organized, but it can get cluttered with ingredients and packaging boxes. It’s a mix of a small production area and a little office corner. The windows are old and let in a bit of the Mumbai humidity. We spend the day working on the various items we make, and the air usually has a sweet scent to it. It is not a very large office, so we all work close together. There is a constant sound of traffic from the main road outside and the occasional train passing by on the tracks nearby. We don't have a showroom or a fancy lobby for people to wait in. If someone visits, they usually just stand by the door or sit on one of the stools we have. It’s a very simple, hardworking atmosphere where the main focus is just on the daily production and getting the orders out to the shops. It’s busy and a bit messy.
