Basant Enterprise

Being at 84/86 Nagdevi Cross Lane means you get used to the noise early in the morning. This building is old and we are split between the second and fourth floors. It’s not always convenient, honestly. Sometimes you realize what you need is two floors up and you just have to start walking. Basant Enterprise has been around this part of Mumbai for a while now. The lane is narrow and there are always handcarts blocking the way, which makes getting deliveries in or out a bit of a headache every single day. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just an office with desks, some files, and people talking on phones. When the monsoon hits, the walls get a bit damp and the street outside gets messy, but we just keep the doors open and carry on. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing, selling hardware or tools. We know the tea seller downstairs pretty well by now. The second floor is where most of the paperwork happens, and the fourth floor is more for storage and other bits. It’s a tight squeeze sometimes when we get new stock in. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor. As long as the lights work and the fans are spinning, we are fine. It’s a plain place for a plain business, and that’s how it’s always been here at Nagdevi.
