Kasheer

Our shop is number one in the Crown Palace building, right on 23rd Road in Bandra West. It’s a busy area, especially being so close to where Tarun Tahiliani is. We get a lot of people walking by while they are out shopping or going to lunch. Kasheer is a small place, really. We don't have a lot of room, so we have to be very careful about how we stack things. It can get a bit crowded when more than three or four people come in at once. We spend a lot of time just talking to customers and showing them what we have on the racks. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, which can be tiring. The traffic on 23rd Road is always noisy, but once you step inside, it’s a bit calmer. We chose this spot because Bandra has a certain energy that you don’t find elsewhere. We aren’t a big chain store with thousands of locations. We just have this one spot and we try to make it work. Sometimes the air conditioning acts up and we have to open the door, which lets in all the dust from the street. That’s just life in the city, I suppose. We keep a ledger by the door to track everything. It’s a simple business. We sell what we have, we order more when we run out, and we try to be helpful when someone asks a question.
