This part of the hospital is where the Orthopaedics department and T N Medical College are located. You’ll find us on A L Nair Road. Because it’s a medical college too, there are always students around in white coats, learning the ropes and helping out. We deal with bones and joints, so we see a lot of people with casts or crutches. It’s a very busy section of the hospital. People come from all over the state because they know the Nair name. The hallways are often full of people waiting their turn. It’s a bit of an old-school environment with wooden desks and stacks of patient files. We spend a lot of time in the clinics looking at X-rays and talking to patients about their injuries. It’s not a quiet place. There’s the sound of trolleys clicking on the floor and people calling out names. The staff works in shifts that can be pretty exhausting, but the work never really stops. We try to keep things moving as fast as we can, though there’s usually a wait. It’s just the reality of a big public institution in Mumbai. We focus on getting the job done and helping people get back on their feet, literally. It’s a straightforward place with no room for anything unnecessary or decorative.
