Athirava Saloon

You can find Athirava Saloon at Shop-1 in the B. I. T. Building on M. G. Road in Agripada. We are quite close to Nair Hospital and the YMCA swimming pool. Being near the hospital means we see a lot of different people walking by all the time. The shop is on the ground floor of the old building. Inside, we have three chairs and a long mirror that runs the length of the wall. It’s a simple place to get a haircut. We have a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit when it’s on the highest setting, but it keeps the air moving during the hot Mumbai afternoons. The walls are painted a pale color that has faded over time. We keep our towels in a neat stack, and there is always a bottle of water nearby to spray on people's hair before we start cutting. It’s a bit noisy because of the traffic on M. G. Road, but you stop noticing it after a while. We don't have any fancy signs or advertisements. People just know we are here. Sometimes the kids from the swimming pool come in with wet hair looking for a quick cut. We just do our work and keep things moving. It’s a small business, and we like the regulars who come in every few weeks to keep their hair looking tidy.
