Associated Trade Carriers

You can find us right opposite the Masjid Bunder railway station. We are in the New Municipal Building, shop number 112 B. It is a very loud area because of the trains and the crowds at Darbar Chowkdi. We do a lot of carrier work, moving things around for traders. The station is so close that we can hear the announcements all day. It’s a convenient spot for business but it’s very dusty. We have a couple of desks and some old chairs for when people come to talk. Most of our work happens on the road or at the loading docks. We deal with all sorts of goods, from cloth to small machinery parts. Every day is different. Sometimes a truck gets stuck in the narrow lanes and we have to go down to help navigate. It is a lot of coordination. My nephew takes care of the paperwork while I talk to the drivers and the customers. We don't use fancy software, just basic lists and a lot of memory. Sometimes we stay late into the night if a shipment is coming in. The chai wallah across the street knows us well. We’ve been part of this market for a long time. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the cargo from one point to the next. The door is always creaking when someone walks inside. We keep the fan running all day.
