Our shop is in the Ratan Building on New Rasta Peth, over in the Marine Lines area. It’s an old part of town with a lot of character. The building itself has been there for decades. We are at number 25. The shop is quite small, which is common for jewelers in this neighborhood. We have a few glass cases where we keep the items we’ve made or repaired. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except for the sounds of the street outside. We spend a lot of time sitting at the workbench with small tools and magnifying glasses. There is always some gold to polish or a stone that needs resetting. We don't have big flashy advertisements. Most people find us because they live nearby or their parents used to come here. It’s a very traditional way of working. We have a small safe in the back and a couple of chairs for customers. The lighting is focused mostly on the work area so we can see the fine details. Sometimes the air feels a bit heavy with the smell of the polishing compounds. We take our time with the work. It’s not something you can rush. We’ve seen many neighbors come and go over the years in Marine Lines. The Ratan Building has its own quirks, like the creaky doors and the narrow stairs. We are just here doing our craft every day.
