Anuj Chemicals is tucked away in the Contractor Building No 4 over at Charni Road Wakad 3/41. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and narrow hallways that always feel a little bit dark. We’ve been operating out of this space for quite a while now. The air inside usually smells like a mix of different things, sometimes sharp like vinegar and other times just dusty. We have rows and rows of glass bottles and plastic drums filled with various liquids and powders. Dealing with chemicals means you have to be careful, so we spend a lot of time checking labels and making sure everything is tightly closed. The stairs up to our floor are a bit steep, so it’s always a struggle when we have to bring new stock up. Charni Road is a hectic place to work, with the station nearby and people always rushing to catch their trains. We don't have a big corporate office or a sales team. It’s mostly just us answering the phone and writing down orders on paper pads. Sometimes we have to explain to people that we don't have something in stock, which is just how it goes. We don't try to look bigger than we are. It’s just a small operation in an old part of town, doing the same thing day after day. It keeps us busy and we know the trade well enough by now.
