Being in Goregaon East means there is never a quiet moment. Our shop, Anjali Textiles, is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. We have rolls of cloth stacked up all over the place, sometimes reaching all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit cramped inside, especially when we get a big shipment in and have to find space for everything on the shelves. People come in looking for all sorts of fabric, some for clothes and some for things around the house. We spend a lot of time measuring out meters of cloth and cutting them on the big wooden table we've used for years. Sometimes the dust from the fabrics makes you sneeze, but you get used to it after a few years. It’s mostly just us and a couple of helpers trying to keep things organized, which isn't always easy when things get busy. We open up early and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. There’s no big fancy display, just the actual stock for people to see. We’ve been at this for a long time in Goregaon. The tea stall nearby usually brings us a cup in the afternoon, which is a nice break from moving the heavy bolts of fabric around. It’s a simple business, just selling textiles to whoever needs them. We don’t have a website, just the physical shop where people can touch the material before they buy it.
