Shiv Garments

You can find Shiv Garments at Gala No. 1 in the Aslam Compound. We’re right opposite Micro Lab and just behind the old Kamani Oil Mills in Chandiwali, Andheri East. It’s an old industrial area, so it’s not exactly pretty, but it’s where we do our work. The space is basically a large room filled with sewing machines and cutting tables. It can get pretty loud when everyone is working at once. We’ve been here for years, and the compound has changed a lot, but we’ve stayed in the same spot. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you don’t know the landmarks. We don’t have a website or a marketing team. We just make clothes. The rain in Mumbai sometimes makes the road outside a bit messy, but we keep the inside dry and the machines running. It’s a hard-working environment. Most of the staff live nearby, so it’s a bit of a neighborhood crew. We aren't doing anything fancy, just practical garment work for our clients. People know us for being reliable, even if the building looks a bit worn out. That’s just the reality of small-scale manufacturing in Mumbai. We start early in the morning and stay until the work is finished. It is a plain way of living but it works for us. We just keep the needles moving every single day.
