Amol Printers

Our shop is number 2 in the Wasim Compound. We are out in Andheri East, right near the Ghatkopar Link Road in the Warje area. It is a very busy spot and there is always a lot of dust from the road. Amol Printers is a small place, mostly taken up by the big machines and the stacks of paper we use every day. The smell of ink is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It gets on your clothes and your hands, no matter how careful you are. We have been here in the compound for a long time. It is not a fancy retail store. It is more of a workshop where we are constantly running the presses. The machines make a lot of noise, so we have to shout a bit to hear each other. We spend our time checking proofs and making sure the paper is feeding through correctly. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet, which is always a bit frustrating. We just wait for it to come back and start again. People from the nearby offices come in with their jobs, and we try to get them done as quick as we can. It gets quite hot in the shop during the summer, but we keep the back door open for a breeze. It is just honest work with our hands. We like the rhythm of the machines and the paper moving.
