AM Electronics is right in the heart of Kalbadevi at number 1. If you know Kalbadevi, you know it’s a maze of narrow streets and old buildings, and we are right in the middle of all that action. Our shop is old and the wooden counters have seen better days, but they are sturdy. We deal with all sorts of electronic components—wires, switches, small motors, and things like that. It’s the kind of place where you have to climb a ladder to get to the boxes stored near the ceiling. It’s always a bit dusty because of all the construction nearby, so we spend a lot of time with a rag in our hands. There isn’t much room to move around, especially when we get a big shipment in and boxes are stacked on the floor. We’ve been here for a long time, and the neighborhood hasn't really changed its busy character. I usually have a cup of tea sitting on the counter, getting cold because I got distracted talking to a customer. We don't have a computer for billing; we still write everything down in a big register with a blue pen. It might seem slow to some people, but it works for us and our customers don't seem to mind the wait. The fans are old and noisy, but they keep the air moving in this crowded market. It’s just how we do things here.
