Being over here in Mohopada at the Alkyl Amines Housing Colony, things feel a bit more relaxed than the bigger offices. It’s Raigad district, so the weather gets quite rainy during the monsoon, which everyone here knows all about. We’re part of Alkyl Amines Chemicals Ltd, but staying in the colony means work and home are pretty close together. You see the same faces at the gate every morning when we head in. Khalapur has its own pace, and we’ve adjusted to it over time. The buildings have been here for a while, and they’ve seen a lot of people come and go. We don't really have a corporate vibe; it’s more like a neighborhood where everyone happens to work at the same place. We spend our days handling the chemical side of things, checking the logs, and making sure the equipment stays in good shape. There is always some maintenance work going on somewhere. We talk about the local news or whatever is happening in the taluka while we work. It’s not a fancy setup, just some sturdy buildings and people getting on with their tasks. We know the roads around here well, and we know who to call when something needs fixing. It’s just a regular life in a company town, doing what needs to be done without any big fuss about it. The grass around the housing blocks needs cutting again, but that’s just how it is.
