I’ve been running Ali Mobile Electronics in the Bhosale Arcade in Malad East for a good while now. The arcade itself is a busy place with people always moving around and different smells coming from the nearby food stalls. My shop is filled with all sorts of electronic bits and pieces. Besides phones, I sometimes look at other small gadgets that people bring in when they stop working. The space is small, so I have to be careful about where I put things or I’ll never find them again. I spend a lot of my time soldering things or trying to clean out dust from inside a tablet. It’s quiet work in a loud building. I don't have any staff, so it’s just me from the time I open the shutters until I lock up at night. Sometimes my friends from other shops in the arcade come by to sit and talk for a few minutes. We talk about the rent or the latest news in the Malad area. It’s not a glamorous job, and the lighting in the arcade isn’t the best, but it pays the bills and keeps me busy. People come in with broken screens or batteries that don't hold a charge, and I do what I can to help them out. I don’t use any fancy equipment, just the tools I’ve had for years. It’s a practical life, and I’m fine with how things are going here.
