Akshay Engineering

You can find Akshay Engineering tucked away behind Paradise Cinema in the Kalpataru building. We are in unit A/202 on the second floor. It’s a bit of a walk up, but it’s a decent spot. Being behind the cinema means it gets really busy in the evenings when a movie is letting out, but during the day it’s mostly just us and the other businesses in the building. We’ve been operating out of this space for quite some time now. It’s an engineering workshop, so there’s always some noise from the machines or the sound of metal being moved around. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re more focused on the work at hand than how the place looks. Most of our clients come to us through word of mouth. We don't really do any fancy marketing or have a big website. It’s just us doing engineering work, day in and day out. Sometimes the lift in the building doesn't work, so we end up carrying things up the stairs, which is quite a workout. The office part is just a couple of desks shoved into a corner where we keep our papers and invoices. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. We like being in this part of town because it feels lived in and active. There’s a good sense of community among the shop owners here.
