You can find us in Jogeshwari, right behind the New Bharat Hotel. It’s one of those areas that never really stays quiet. Our space is filled with rolls of fabric and the smell of cotton. It’s not a fancy showroom with air conditioning and bright lights. It’s more of a workspace where we handle the textiles every day. We spend a lot of time moving heavy bundles around and checking the quality of what comes in. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and scrap cloth. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the stacks, but we have our own system of finding things. The lane behind the hotel is quite narrow, so getting stuff delivered can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We know the staff at the hotel and the other shop owners around here. Lunch is usually something quick from one of the local stalls nearby. The fans hum all day long to keep the air moving, especially when the Mumbai humidity kicks in. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We handle the cloth, talk to the people who come in, and try to get the orders sorted before the day ends. It’s honest work and it keeps us on our feet from morning until the shutters go down at night. We don't make a big deal out of it, we just do the job.
