A.K. Bhayani & Sons

Our place is on the second floor of the Mangaldas Building. It’s right there in Kitchen Garden Lane, inside Dawa Bazar. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with all the medicine shops and people moving boxes. The building is an old one. We’ve been operating under the name A.K. Bhayani & Sons for a long time. It started with the elders and now we are still at it. It’s a family thing. Up on the second floor, it’s a bit quieter than the street, but you still hear everything going on downstairs. We spend most of our time dealing with suppliers and sorting out the stock. Dawa Bazar has its own rhythm. You have to get used to the narrow lanes. Sometimes the stairs in the building feel a bit steep after a long day. We mostly deal with pharmaceutical related items because of where we are located. It’s what we know. There isn't much room for big displays, so everything is mostly kept in the back or in the storage. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next delivery truck to arrive. It's not a corporate setup. We sit at old wooden desks and use ledgers. It feels more real that way. People come by to talk business or just to say hello. It’s a small community in this building. We just try to keep things moving. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just basic trade.
