Afghan Carpet House

Afghan Carpet House is tucked away in the Colaba area. We are located at 35 Abbas Building. If you are looking for us, we are right behind the big Taj Mahal Hotel. It is a very famous part of the city, but our shop itself is actually quite simple. We have carpets of all sizes stacked up everywhere you look. Some are rolled up tightly in the corners and others are spread out on the floor so people can get a look at the patterns. It always smells like wool and old fabric in here. We spend a lot of our days moving these heavy rugs around for people. It is actually a lot of physical work. We are not a fancy art gallery. We are just a regular place that sells carpets. Sometimes tourists wander in after seeing the hotel, and other times it is locals who have known our family for many years. The Abbas Building is an old structure, so it has a lot of character and some creaky spots. We do not have any bright neon lights or loud music playing. It is usually pretty quiet in here until someone starts negotiating over a price. We have been in this spot for quite some time now. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this street. It is a nice part of town to be in, even when it gets crowded with people visiting the monument nearby.
