Our place, Acorn Chemicals, is at G/5/86 in Kalbadevi. If you’ve ever been to Kalbadevi, you know it’s a maze of narrow lanes and old buildings. It’s probably one of the most crowded places in the city, but it’s also where all the trade happens. Our office is tucked into one of these buildings, and it’s a bit of a squeeze when we have visitors. We’ve been operating out of here for years. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the filing cabinets are a bit rusty, but it works for us. We spend our days dealing with chemical orders, talking to suppliers, and making sure our customers get what they asked for. There is no corporate ladder here or anything like that. It’s just a few of us trying to keep things organized in the middle of the Kalbadevi chaos. The tea boy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a small break. Otherwise, it’s mostly just the sound of calculators and people talking on their mobiles. We don't have any big missions or slogans. We just know our products and we know how to get them from point A to point B. It’s a very grounded way of living. We just show up every morning, pull up the shutters, and get to work on whatever is on the desk that day.
