Even though the name mentions Mumbai, we are actually based out of the Bargarh Cement Works over in Orissa. Our office is out in Bardol, which is a bit of a drive from the main town center. It is a big industrial site, so there is always a lot of movement. You’ll see plenty of dust and big machinery if you come to visit us. We spend most of our time in the process department, making sure everything runs like it should. It’s not a glamorous job. Most days involve checking gauges, walking the floor, and talking to the crew about the day's output. The office itself is just a small room with some old metal cabinets and a few chairs that have seen better days. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some charts and schedules. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a blessing when the Orissa sun is beating down on the roof. We eat our lunch together in the canteen and talk about regular stuff, not just work. It feels like a small community inside a big plant. We’ve been here for a long time and we know how the machines sound when they are working right. It’s a hands-on kind of place. We aren't trying to impress anyone; we just want to get the product out the door. That is what keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
