Aamir Hair Saloon

Aamir Hair Saloon is located over in South Mumbai, specifically in the Dhobi Talo area of Kalbadevi. We are on Marine Line Street, which is an old part of the city with a lot of history in the buildings. The shop itself is in the Sadanand building. It’s a small space, like many of the shops around here, but it’s got everything we need. The ceiling is high because it’s an old construction, and we have a big old fan that keeps the air moving. You can hear the sounds of the city outside, the taxis honking and people rushing toward the station. We’ve been here for a while and we see the same faces every month. It’s a simple hair saloon, no bells or whistles. We have the usual black chairs and a shelf for the combs and razors. The lighting isn't the best, but we know what we're doing by now. Mumbai is a fast city, but inside the shop, things slow down a little bit. People sit down, talk about the weather or the local news, and get their hair cut. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we're here. At night, when we close up the shutters, the street is still busy. It’s just part of being in Kalbadevi. We’re glad to be a small part of this neighborhood's daily routine and keep the tradition of a local barber shop going.
