10 The Salon

You can find us at Number 40 on Akurli Road. It’s a pretty straightforward location, right on the main stretch where everyone walks. We’ve been running 10 The Salon as a basic place for people to get their hair done or a quick shave. We don't have any of those fancy waterfalls or mood lighting you see in the big malls. It’s just a row of mirrors, some decent chairs, and our tools of the trade. The floor is usually a bit worn from all the walking, and we keep the doors open when the weather is nice to get some air in. Akurli Road is always moving, so there’s a lot of noise from the street, but we don't mind. We have a couple of guys working here who are good with the scissors. Most of our customers are locals who just want a quick trim without having to book weeks in advance. Sometimes there’s a bit of a wait, so we have some old magazines and a bench near the front. We aren't trying to reinvent how a salon works. We just want people to walk out looking a bit better than when they walked in. It’s a simple business. We keep our prices fair and we work until the last customer is served. The lighting is bright, the conversation is usually about the cricket or the weather, and we keep things moving along.
