Swidan Ceramic

You can find Swidan Ceramic tucked away behind Jambudia Village, just off the 8-a National Highway. It is a bit quieter back here than being right on the main road, which is actually quite nice. We have been at this location for several years now. It started as a small shed and we have slowly built it up bit by bit. We mainly produce ceramic pieces for construction. My father still comes in every morning to check on things, though I handle the main part of the business now. We have about twenty people working with us, mostly from the nearby villages. It’s a good group and we all know each other well. Our days are spent moving crates, checking the clay mix, and talking to the transporters who come to pick up orders. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. People usually find us through word of mouth or by asking around in Jambudia. We like to keep things simple and avoid any unnecessary complications. If a batch isn't right, we set it aside and try again. There is no point in sending out something we aren't happy with. The winters are okay, but the summer months are really long and hot in the factory. We just drink plenty of water and keep the fans going. It’s a basic life, but we are proud of the work we do here every day.
