You can find Uzair Handicraft at Dhobi Wala Phatak. Our workshop is situated right in front of the big 5 Star Hotel. It is an interesting contrast because the hotel is so modern and we are doing traditional hand work across the street. We focus on making various handicrafts by hand. It is a slow process and requires a lot of patience. My family has been doing this for generations. We learned the skills from our elders. The workshop is often filled with the smell of raw materials and the sound of small tools. We don't have a big showroom. Most of our items are displayed on simple wooden racks or even on the floor. It can get quite dusty because of the location, but we try to keep things tidy for our customers. People who appreciate handmade things usually find their way to us. We don't do any big advertising. Word of mouth is how most people hear about Uzair Handicraft. Sometimes we spend days on a single piece just to get it right. It is hard on the hands and the eyes, but we enjoy the work. We sit on low stools for most of the day. The area around Dhobi Wala Phatak is always humming with activity.
