Our place is tucked away right behind Thana Naagphani on Jharkhandi Mandir Road. It’s a bit of a maze back here in Nawabpura, but people seem to find us eventually. We have been working with these old pieces for years. The shop is usually full of dust because that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with antiques. We spend a lot of time just cleaning things up or looking at stuff that’s come in from different places. The temple nearby, Jharkhandi Mandir, is a good landmark if you’re lost. You can hear the bells in the morning when we’re just opening up the shutters. It’s a family-run sort of thing, nothing too formal. We sit on plastic chairs and talk about what needs to be shipped out next. The road outside can get pretty muddy when it rains, so we spend half the time mopping the floor. We don’t really have a big sign or anything flashy. Most people who come here have heard about us from someone else in the trade. It’s quiet work mostly. Just checking the wood or the metal for cracks and making sure everything is wrapped up tight before it leaves Nawabpura. It feels like the days go by fast when you’re busy with your hands. We aren't looking to change much, just staying here and doing the work we know.
