Tanishka Tiles & Marbles

If you head down Paspat Road, you will find us near Vidya Knowledge Park. It is a big open space because we have to keep so many heavy slabs of marble and crates of tiles. The whole place is pretty much covered in a thin layer of white dust from the stone. We spend the day lifting heavy things and showing different patterns to people who stop by. It’s a physical job and my back usually aches by the time we close up. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning. It is just a large shed and a yard. The District area is quite busy with construction, so there are always trucks passing by. We have all kinds of tiles, some for floors and some for walls. Some are plain and some have lots of colors. People come here when they are building a new house or maybe just fixing a small part of their kitchen. We try to be helpful, but we don't use any sales talk. We just show what is available in the stacks. Sometimes the marble has natural spots or lines that some people don't like, but that’s just how nature made it. We have a small desk in the corner where we do the billing. It’s a straightforward business. We’ve been on Paspat Road for a long time and most of the local builders know where to find us. It’s just us and the stone every day.
