If you are driving down Baghpat Road and look opposite Anurag Cinema, you will see us at No-190. Shyam Steel & Cement Agency is a busy spot because we have both steel and cement coming in and out all day long. The cinema across the street brings in a lot of people, so there is always a bit of a crowd nearby. Our yard is usually white with cement dust, and it gets into your clothes and hair no matter how careful you are. We have stacks of bags piled high under the tin roof, and the steel rods are kept in a separate section toward the back. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying, so everyone here has a bit of muscle. We get all sorts of people coming in, from contractors to local guys just fixing up their porch. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that; we just have a sign out front and a phone that rings too much. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack things right up to the edge of the road. It’s a bit chaotic, especially when a big shipment arrives right when a movie is letting out across the street. But we have been here at No-190 for a long time, and we just keep doing what we do. It is simple business, mostly involving heavy lifting and keeping track of the inventory.
