Adarsha Vidyalaya is located in the village of Asalottala. We fall under the Baishnabnagar police station area in the Malda district. It’s a very rural setting, surrounded by greenery and fields. The school is a simple brick building that we’ve expanded slightly over the years. Getting here involves traveling down some narrow village roads that can be difficult after a heavy downpour. We are used to the slow pace of life in this part of Malda. Our school day starts when the sun is up, and we try to finish before it gets too dark because the street lighting isn't great. We have a few classrooms with basic furniture. The kids bring their own bags and sometimes sit on the floor if we are extra crowded that day. We have a small well on the property for water. The staff consists of a few dedicated people who live in the village or nearby. We don't have any fancy marketing materials or a glossy brochure. If people want to know about us, they just come and talk to the headmaster. The atmosphere is very informal and friendly. We deal with regular issues like the roof needing repairs or getting enough chalk for the month. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment. We just want to provide a space for the kids in Asalottala to gather and learn without having to travel too far. Every year we just try.
