Jarsang Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Bheuchukkumarbari village in the Majuli area. We started this because the farmers around here needed a way to get things done together. Jyoti Kumar Pegu has his place here where we meet up and talk about the crops and the season. It’s a bit of a trek to get here sometimes because the roads in Jengraimukh aren’t always the best, especially when the rains start coming down hard. Most of us have been farming our whole lives, just growing what we can on the land we have. We don't have fancy equipment or anything, just the usual tools and a lot of manual labor. Having the company name officially registered at this address in Jorhat district helps us handle the paperwork for seeds and such. Sometimes we sit around in the evening just figuring out how to get the produce to the market without it spoiling. It is a quiet village life mostly. We are just a group of local people trying to make the farming side of things a bit more organized than it was before. Everyone knows each other here. We don't have a big office building, just a room where we keep our records and some bags of grain waiting for transport.
