Saraipali Swabhiman Women Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is run by women from around here who are tired of getting the short end of the stick. We operate out of House No. 12/1 in Barihapali. It’s near the Singhanpur post office in the 493558 area. We didn't have much when we started, just a few of us talking in a circle. Now we have this little office where we keep our things. We deal with all sorts of farming stuff, mostly trying to get our produce out to people who will pay a decent price. Farming as a woman has its own set of problems and we try to help each other through them. It’s not a fancy place at all. There are usually some kids running around or someone bringing in snacks while we talk. We don't use big words or have long meetings with slides. We just sit down and figure out who is planting what and how we can get the transport sorted. Sometimes the truck doesn't show up and we have to scramble. That’s just life for us. We want to be proud of what we do and that's why we chose the name Swabhiman. It means something to us. We are just local women working the soil and trying to make our lives a bit better. No one is getting rich here. We are just trying to be fair and work hard. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night every single day.
