Mahasamund Bagbahara Farmer Producer Company Limited is situated in Bodaridadarbagbahara. Govardhan Chandrakar is the person in charge of the location there. Bagbahara is a place where farming is the main thing everyone does, so it made sense for us to set up here. We are a collective of local farmers trying to make things a bit more manageable. The name of the village is a bit of a mouthful, but it’s home to us. Our office is a simple building where we store some of the communal tools and keep our books. Govardhan is usually there early in the morning, often before the tea stalls even open. We don't have a mission statement or any of that corporate talk. We just want to get a fair price for what we grow and make sure we have enough seeds for the next year. The weather in Mahasamund can be tough, especially when the monsoon is late. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch of the office, looking at the sky and talking about the rain. It’s a community effort, and everyone pitches in when there’s a big job to do. We don't use fancy technology for everything. A lot of it is still done the old way, with ledgers and pens and a lot of face-to-face talking. It’s not a fast-paced life, but it’s ours, and we wouldn’t change much about it. It keeps the village together and the fields green.
