Vijay Agro

Vijay Agro is right in the middle of Kasukadai Bazaar on Thiruchuli Road. If you know the bazaar, you know it’s a tight squeeze with all the stalls and people walking through. Our shop at number 22 is usually full of the smell of grain and fertilizer. Farmers come in early, sometimes before we’ve even got the shutters all the way up. They want to talk about the weather or how the crops are doing this season. We have bags of seeds and different tools stacked against the walls. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep a bit of everything in stock. The shelves are mostly wooden and they’ve sagged a bit over the years from the weight of the hardware. We spend a lot of time weighing things out or helping load sacks onto the back of bikes. It’s noisy outside with the bazaar traffic, but inside we just focus on whatever the person in front of us needs. We don't have a big staff, just family mostly, and we’ve known many of our customers since they were kids. It’s a practical business, nothing too special to look at. We keep the ledger on the counter and try to make sure everyone gets what they came for so they can get back to their fields. The shop has been here through many seasons, and we just keep going day by day.
