If you’re driving down the Bye Pass Road near Kalavasal, you’ll pass Sathyam Agro Foods at number 61. It’s a very busy area, especially during the peak hours when the traffic is backed up all the way to the junction. We’ve been operating from this spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the whole neighborhood change around us. We deal with agro products, which means our schedule is mostly dictated by the harvest cycles. Some months we are working late into the night just to process everything, and other times it’s much quieter. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning and glass walls. Our space is practical—plenty of room for sacks and crates, and a small area where we keep the records. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the grain, but we sweep it out every evening before locking up. The heat in Madurai can be pretty intense, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early in the morning before the sun gets too high. We have a few regular drivers who know exactly where to back their trucks in, even though it’s a tight squeeze from the main road. We don’t do much advertising because most people in the trade already know us by name. It’s a simple business built on showing up every day and doing what needs to be done.
