Urban Mushroomery Llp

We are running Urban Mushroomery Llp out of a ground floor space here in Gomathipuram. It’s located at No. 5/125A in Ambigai Nagar, specifically on Thalai Veedhi near the 6th Main Road. It is a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes, but it works for growing mushrooms. We spent a lot of time getting the humidity and the racks just right. It is a quiet kind of work, mostly checking on the bags and making sure nothing is getting contaminated. Mushrooms are finicky things, so we’re always poking around with thermometers and spray bottles. Being in an urban area means we don’t have much outdoor space, but that’s why we chose this spot. We like being in the middle of the neighborhood. Often, people walk by and peek in to see what we are doing. We just tell them we’re growing food in the dark. It is a bit messy with the substrate and the water, but we try to keep it tidy. My hands are usually stained or damp from working the beds. It isn't a glamorous job, but there is something nice about seeing them sprout up overnight. We keep the lights low and the temperature steady. It's just a small operation, really. We are just trying to produce something good right here in the city without needing acres of land to do it. It keeps us pretty occupied.
