J. P. Emu Farm

We are J. P. Emu Farm, and you can find us situated in Mangulam. We are located right next to the Kallanthiri village on the road heading toward Alagar Kovil. If you follow the river water canal for about five kilometers, you will eventually see our fences. Emus are very interesting birds to work with every day. They are quite tall and can be a bit stubborn when you are trying to move them into a different pen. We started this farm because we wanted to try something a bit different from the usual cows or goats you see everywhere else. The whole space is set up with high, sturdy fences to keep them safely contained. A lot of our time is spent on feeding routines and checking on the eggs during the breeding season. The birds seem to like the open space we have here near the canal water. It is a bit quieter and more peaceful than being right in the middle of the village. We spend almost all of our time outside with the animals. The office is just a small, dusty room where we keep our basic records and some old chairs for when we need a break. We do not get a huge amount of visitors out here, but when people do stop by, they are usually just curious about what an emu looks like up close. We do not have a polished sales pitch. We just show them the pens and explain how we take care of the flock.
