Namathu Tamil Parambariyam Farmer Producer Company Limited is based over at Melavasal No.29/1A in Kumarapuram. We are a group that focuses on traditional ways of farming, which is what the name is all about. Our office is a modest spot in Kumarapuram where we gather to talk about our crops and how to keep things going the old way. It’s not a very big place, just enough room for a few desks and a space for farmers to sit down and talk. You won't find any high-tech gadgets or expensive furniture here. We prefer it that way because it fits with the kind of work we are doing. The atmosphere is usually pretty relaxed, though it can get busy when the harvest season is near. People come in from the surrounding areas to share their experiences and what they’ve learned from the land. There’s a lot of talk about soil and weather and traditional seeds. We try to keep everything simple and straightforward. The building itself is just a regular house-turned-office, so it feels very much like a home. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who walk in through the door. It’s a community effort more than anything else. We are just trying to keep the traditions alive while helping the farmers earn a living. It’s good, honest work that keeps us connected to the ground. No big corporate plans, just daily tasks.
