If you go down Mary Sirvany Nathy Street in Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, you will find us. We just go by the name Fitter. It is a simple name for a simple business here in Madurai. We spend most of our time out on jobs or fixing things in the shop. It isn't a large operation with many departments. It is mostly just a few of us who are good with our hands and know how to fix stuff. The street can be quite narrow, and it gets busy with people going about their business. We have been in this neighborhood for a long time, so we know most of the families and other shop owners nearby. We don't really do any advertising. People just know that if something is broken or needs fitting, they can come to us. Our workspace is pretty cluttered with tools and bits of hardware, but that is how we like it. It means work is being done. We don't have a receptionist; if you walk in, you will probably find one of us working on a bench. The weather in Madurai is usually hot, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done before it gets too late in the afternoon. We take our time to do things right because we live here too and don't want a bad reputation. It is just a basic way of living and working.
