We are based over here at No. 3/286 on the Madurai Theni Main Road. It’s a spot in Ariyapatti Otha Veedu where a bunch of us got together to form Chellampatti Jasmine And Millets Farmers Producer Company Limited. Mostly, we deal with jasmine and different kinds of millets because that's what grows well in our soil around here. It wasn't always easy getting everyone on the same page, but we figured it was better to work as a group than just doing things on our own. Some days are busier than others, especially when the jasmine starts blooming and needs to get moved quickly before it gets ruined by the heat. We spend a lot of time out in the fields or meeting up at the office to talk about the crops and how the season is going. It's just a regular local operation run by people who know the land. If you’re driving down the main road, you’ll probably see us around. We don't have a big fancy office, just the place in Ariyapatti where we keep our tools and handle the paperwork for the millets. It gets dusty and loud with the traffic passing by, but it’s home for the business. We focus on getting the produce sorted and making sure the farmers get a fair deal for all the hard work they put in during the harvest times. It’s just us trying to make the most of what the earth gives us.
