Bismi Plastic Stores

Madurai gets incredibly hot in the summer, and here at Bismi Plastic Stores on Veli Street, we definitely feel it. Our shop is at 5/5A, right in the Simmakkal area. It’s a very old part of Madurai Main, and the streets are narrow and always full of life. We sell all sorts of plastic items, from buckets to storage boxes. The shop is usually packed to the ceiling because we try to keep a bit of everything in stock. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we usually know where everything is if you give us a minute to look. Being in Simmakkal means there’s a lot of foot traffic. People are always dropping in to ask for things. We don't have a lot of space for a fancy showroom, so everything is just there on the shelves or in piles. My father started things off, and we’ve just kept it going the same way. The fans are always running, and we drink a lot of water to stay cool. Veli Street has its own rhythm. You hear the bikes and the vendors shouting all day long. It’s a noisy, busy place to work, but it feels right. We just help the people who come in, take the cash, and move on to the next person. It’s just a regular plastic store, nothing more and nothing less than that.
