We are located on Old Dandi Swamiroad, not too far from Baba Hospital near Samrala Chowk. Our work is mostly about mehandi, so the shop usually smells like fresh henna. It’s a specific kind of business where you spend a lot of time sitting down and focusing on small details. The chairs are arranged so customers can be comfortable for an hour or two while we work on their hands or feet. Being near the chowk means it’s easy for people to find us, even if the traffic is a bit much sometimes. We have many books with different patterns, but a lot of people just tell us what they want. The cones are prepared daily to make sure the paste is just right. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to a busy hair salon. Sometimes we do bigger groups for weddings, and then the whole place gets filled with laughter and talk. My hands are usually stained with henna, which is just a sign of the job. We don't have fancy decorations, just the essential tools and a place for people to sit. The floor is easy to clean because sometimes bits of dry henna fall. It’s a humble setup in a busy part of Ludhiana, focusing on the craft we know. We just take it one customer at a time. It gets dark early in the winter, so we have to make sure the lighting is good for the intricate lines.
